There are a number of experienced teachers who can provide effective tutoring, but it is very important to choose the right teacher who is best suited for yo ur child. A number of students and parents look for a teacher who has been teaching for long. This is because they feel that a teacher with years of experience is more qualified than an inexperienced teacher. The reason behind this is that a good teacher with many years of experience is able to better control and manage a child's behaviour. An experienced teacher can better understand the child's thinking patterns and learn the necessary skills to manage a child's behaviour.Another reason why a teacher is good is because of his or her understanding of the needs of the child. 4 Reasons to Focus on SAT Tutoring Now
4 Reasons to Focus on SAT Tutoring Now Irvine SAT Tutoring Tips: 4 Reasons to Focus on SAT Tutoring Now Students will take the SAT exam later this spring. Its pretty easy to put test prep off to the side and not think about it until March or April. However, many students find that there are so many things going on in the spring that they simply dont have enough time to dedicate to SAT prep. These students become completely overwhelmed and stressed out by the amount of work they have to do in such a short period. A great way to avoid this situation is to start focusing on SAT tutoring right now. Students can identify areas of strength and weakness and determine what path they need to take in their sessions to achieve their primary goal, which is to take the SAT once and get into the college of their choice our private Irvine SAT tutors are here to help you succeed. 1. Tackle challenging areas of study By starting SAT prep now, students have the opportunity to tackle challenging areas of study. They might be struggling with math formulas, or they may have trouble focusing on responding to an essay prompt. When combined with all of the things a student has to focus on while studying test prep, getting into great detail over one or two difficult topics can be very stressful. By starting early students can give their undivided attention to these areas and wait to focus on General review until later on. If a student becomes overwhelmed, they can talk about this with their tutor and work on coming up with a schedule that balances study and personal time. 2. Review complicated materials Once students have figured out how to tackle these specific topics, they will want time to review any complicated material that might show up on the exam. These are not necessarily topics that they struggle with on an intense level but just things that require a lot of concentration and personal attention. When students have ample time to work through their review topics, they tend to absorb information more easily and learn it the first time. February and early March are great months for students to work on this before they get into the craziness of spring testing season. 3. Achieve the desired score the first time Test prep students set a goal to achieve their desired score the first time they take the SAT. Imagine how much easier a students life would be if they received a score that would help get them into their dream college straight away. This would free up so much more of a students time to focus on AP classes, extracurricular activities, and college applications in the fall. Most students will take the SAT at least twice, which can fill a large portion of their summer and leave them feeling overtired and overwhelmed. Why not get started now and only have to go through test prep one time. 4. Maintain lower stress levels Test prep students who have enough time to take breaks from tutoring and have time to focus on non-academic tasks such as social activities and athletics maintain lower stress levels throughout the school year. Its essential for students to be able to reach their academic goals and achieve entrance to a good university but its also important that they have a chance to enjoy the present and have an overall positive experience while in high school. Its never too early to start preparing for your SAT exam. Our experienced Irvine SAT tutors are here to help you succeed. Conductivity Chemistry and the Chemistry of Test Kits
Conductivity Chemistry and the Chemistry of Test KitsConductivity chemistry is often required in business and industry for energy and equipment testing. Conductivity makes it possible to measure different levels of electrical conductivity. Conductivity is one of the first lines of defense against potential harmful effects such as radiations and excessive levels of heat.Conductivity usually involves two different chemical reactions: the reactants and products. The reactants are what results from the electrical activity in a system. These include the objects being used in the process, and often even the environment in which the reactions occur. The products can be the materials themselves or some of the elements themselves. Many methods are available to produce the reactants. Some methods have been used for hundreds of years; others have only recently been developed. In many areas of science, it is the newer methods that are given the most respect and consideration by both scientists an d the general public. In the electrical and electronics industry, this is particularly true. Many companies offer conductivity test kits for use in industrial or commercial applications. The consumer may also consider these test kits as an alternative to the more costly and more complicated procedure of having to conduct and record their own tests. Many times conductivity test kits are the only thing needed for certain tests. If there is only one or two types of material, this may not always be the case.Conductivity test kits typically come with one or more pieces of apparatus. These include probes, conductivity tester or thermocouple probes, apparatus holders, and conductivity tabs. Sometimes it is necessary to add additional pieces depending on the test. Also, many kits include testing strips or paper that can be used to convert data collected from the electrodes into the proper units.Conductivity test kits are becoming more common, and many companies offer them for purchase online or at home. These test kits can be combined with other types of devices to create a comprehensive test package. Many sites on the internet offer them at affordable prices.
The Father of Modern Chemistry
The Father of Modern ChemistryI was recently reading an online article discussing the father of modern chemistry and his contributions to this field. The writer is in the process of looking into the life of some of the chemists who have made great contributions to modern chemistry. Reading the article was intriguing to me, mainly because I am interested in the subject matter, and there was also some mention of the father of modern chemistry and the science of chemistry. In my own study of the life of the father of modern chemistry, I found that the field of chemistry was not actually founded on one scientist, but a number of scientists who brought about a synthesis. Before these first synthesis, there were no real physical properties associated with chemicals; it was simply a theory that chemical compounds were composed of atoms and molecules that moved back and forth on electricity. As these physical properties came to light, and scientists discovered chemical bonds that made the atom s and molecules interact, they realized that chemicals could hold physical properties. These first synthesises were important for chemists as they helped them make molecules that are chemically stable in many different environments, which is why they are considered the fathers of modern chemistry. In order to understand the men who have made these individual contributions, it would be helpful to look at the history of chemistry as a whole. At the time of their discovery, chemistry was a very new field, and even today is not recognized as a real science or as an academic subject.During this time, many of the individuals that founded modern chemistry were students of Alfred Nobel, who was well known for his work on the chemistry of gas chromatography. During the experiments that Nobel conducted, he discovered how to separate gases and how to determine their relative densities. Those two discoveries set the foundation for modern chemistry, which includes several fields that deal with th e study of gases.Even after the work of Nobel and others was completed, chemistry still had to figure out how to look at chemical interactions, and how to separate compounds from one another. This is where more research was done by chemists, and research is still ongoing today, looking into the interaction of chemicals, and how these interactions affect the chemical properties of various compounds. That is what makes the field so unique; there are many different theories as to how a compound should behave, and each one has a great deal of research behind it.Throughout the history of modern chemistry, those who have made significant contributions have often been forgotten because of how important their work was in formulating the theories for today's laboratory equipment and methodologies. It would also be interesting to look at the first syntheses, because there is not only a single chemist responsible for making them, but a whole bunch of researchers that were working on the same p roject. It would also be interesting to look at the fact that the father of modern chemistry was a woman; she was a graduate student of Alfred Nobel and is credited for having two key aspects of chemistry: creating the equation for the chemical bond, and for creating the first chemical model, which would later be used to design various kinds of models in chemistry.
10 Things to Include on Your Acting Resume
10 Things to Include on Your Acting Resume Shanika When it comes to preparing your acting resume, knowing what to include can be a challenge. However, there are several items that should always be included. Instead of only listing the parts youve played, include some of the following items to dazzle directors: Up-to-date Contact Information One of the most important parts of any resume is your contact information. How will recruiters and talent agents contact you if your information is not correct? Update your contact information whenever it changes. Include a working phone number and an email address. Make sure your email address sounds professional, and also be sure to note which contact method is best to reach you. Physical Attributes Since acting is as much about visual appearance as it is talent, include your physical description on your resume. Your height, hair and eye color, and weight should appear somewhere on your resume. It is best to include this information at the top of your resume. Like your contact information, your appearance information must be updated periodically to reflect any physical changes. Memberships If you belong to any acting organizations or unions, they should also be included on your acting resume. This shows that you are serious about your career and that you have a network that could possibly vouch for you if needed. And if you belong to an organization that a recruiter or agent is also a member of, you already have a connection that can help during your audition. Past Experience No matter what role or part you are auditioning for, you must include your past acting experience. You should indicate whether the parts were for theater productions, movie roles, or television appearances. If your acting history is small, include what you can and never lie on your resume. Education If you have little acting experience but have been studying to be an actor at a formal university, this section gives agents a point of reference. You should only include formal education and classes that relate directly to acting, as opposed to listing your education in full. Training Your acting resume should also include any training courses you have taken. This is different from formal education, as you may have studied another subject during college. Include the names of your trainers or studios, as well as what exactly was taught. Avoid being vague here include acting techniques in as much detail as possible. Also include training related to other fields, such as singing, playing musical instruments, or public speaking. Primary Acting Skills There are several skills involved with acting, including voice skills and combat skills. List the ones you are proficient in, as well as some detail about each. You can also include skills not related to acting, such as credentials that could come in handy. Again, dont lie about what skills you have on your resume. Know Your Type Many actors fear being typecast as their career progresses. But this can be a valuable way to advance your career if you are just starting out. Know which roles you are adept at playing. Instead of accepting any part you can, consider informing agents and recruiters about which roles you are the best fit for during auditions. Know Your Role Types When preparing your acting resume, you should include whether or not you can fill speaking or non-speaking roles. Indicate if you are best fit for leading roles, supporting roles, or voice-over parts. If youre a non-speaker, list if youre a body or stunt double or an extra. You can also list any other industry roles, such as print ads or commercials, all of which can be important. Your Headshot Most acting resumes can be printed on the back of a headshot and cut to size. Just as listing your physical description helps agents and directors find a good place for your appearance, your headshot gives them a picture they can really see. You should update your headshot every time your appearance changes. When you arrive at your audition you should look like your headshot does. Looking for a great headshot photographer? This is known as âcontinuing educationâ and is generally used for all educa tion and training aimed at those whoâve already left school or otherwise finished their education. In other words, it refers to anyone whoâs finished their studies, joined the workforce, and then decided to go back and study further. Mature students can study whatever they want! (Source: Free-Photos)Continuing education is quite present at university. Like education for those who are still in education and have never left, mature students can study an undergraduate degree, a postgraduate degree, and PhD, or even diplomas and school qualifications like GCSEs and A Levels. The latter is useful for catching up if youâre planning on going to university later on.There are also access courses for those that don't meet the prerequisites for certain undergraduate courses and most types of continuing education can be applied to in the same way as younger students, which is usually through UCAS.University isnât the only way to go back to school or study further. Those who want to go back to school or study more can also learn online. Thanks to the internet, there are plenty of online services that can be accessed from anywhere in the world. This is particularly true for MOOCs (massive open online courses). These online courses are often offered by big universities. This is your first step to lifelong learning. There are also other organisations offering distance learning.Be wary of certain private organisations as they may be an attractive option, they can also be more expensive than public organisations. Finally, think about what these qualifications and experience are worth. Your professional experience and qualifications may help you in your career. You may even be able to ask for more money. How Much Does It Cost to Go Back to School?Studying costs money. In addition to paying for the courses themselves, you also may need to take into account how much money youâll lose by not working or by working less. In addition to the cost of education, you'll also need to factor in your losses if you decide to stop working. (Source: PublicDomainPictures)So how much does it cost to go back to school? The cost of lifelong learning can vary a lot. In some cases, a training course over a few days can cost as much as training throughout an entire year. Youâll need to think about all the costs involved with tuition but also what youâll need to pay for in terms of materials. While tuition fees are the same for all undergraduates, regardless of their age, some UK universities have scholarships and bursaries available for those deciding to return to full or part-time study. In addition to all of that, you may also need to find a way to earn money during your course. While some may be relishing the opportunity to relive the student experience, other adult learners might have concerns such as childcare and a mortgage to pay.You might consider working part-time or doing night classes and there are also op tions for those wanting to go back to school.Thereâs also funding for mature students, for example. Mature students have the option to apply for student finance. This can be useful if youâre looking at ways to pay for your studies. University courses can be expensive and it feels even more expensive when you may have to give up some of your income to do it. You might be able to take a sabbatical from work and return to the same position once youâve finished your studies. If youâre not working, financial support will be even more important so make sure you look at any financial support youâre entitled too.Find out more about being a mature student. How Can You Choose What to Study?Going back to school is a big opportunity. Whether itâs for changing careers, finding work, or getting ahead in your current career, going back to school and lifelong learning is a way to change how you work. But you will need to choose the right courses! If you're done with your current career, you can always opt for something more interesting and pursue a passion of yours. (Source: TiBine)Baking, engineering, accounting, IT, etc., no matter what youâre interested in, the first thing to do is think about your career. Think about why you want to study more and what you plan to get out of it.If you want to change careers, research what you want to do. If you want to gain more experience, think about internships. You need to keep this in mind when putting together your applications. Consider doing a skills appraisal to work out what youâre good at and what you can do with those skills. While this wonât make the decision for you, it will make things a little clearer. To choose a course, you might want to talk to former students. You might want to think about what theyâre doing, what theyâre working on, and how it helped their professional careers. Youâll have a better idea of what you can do with your qualifications.Addition ally, you might want to think about looking at the entry requirements, picking up a prospectus, or attending open days. An open day is an opportunity for the university to say âcheck out our courses and campus!â. You can see the students union and other student services. While each UK university costs more or less the same to attend, not every degree course is the same and neither are the lecturers. This could be your chance to see what it's all about. You might also want to talk about this with those close to you to hear what they think about your plans to study more. Make sure that theyâre supportive of your choice to study and will help you make the right decision. Whether youâre attending classes or have opted for distance learning, you need support.Whatever you choose to do, itâs your decision at the end of the day. Think about what you want. This will help you stay motivated throughout your studies.
A Student Perspective on The Ohio State University
A Student Perspective on The Ohio State University Hopeearned her bachelors degree in communication from The Ohio State University. She specializes in English tutoring, algebra tutoring, and a number of other subjects. Below, she shares her experience at The Ohio State University: Describe the campus setting and transportation options. Hope: The campus is large and sprawling. There are free shuttle buses to get you on and off campus, and a free bus pass for all students to get you around town. There are lots of bike racks if you choose to get a bike, and a free tracking system to help if it were to get stolen. I worked pretty late at night, and there were blue emergency call boxes every couple of feet and a free service that would escort you up to two miles off campus via car or on foot. This option always made me feel safe and sound. How available are the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants? Hope: All of my teachers were pretty available. Their office hours and locations were in the syllabus, so if you decided to go to see them, they were always there. They were also usually available via email if you needed to contact them that way. How would you describe the dorm liferooms, dining options, location, socialization opportunities with other students? Hope: I loved living in the dorms; all of my friends were just an elevator ride or underground tunnel trip away. I could go to the closest dining hall in my pajamas for brunch on the weekends, which was super convenient. There were dozens of food options all across campus, and I loved it. Which majors/programs are best represented and supported? Hope: We had great business, dance, and engineering programs. I studied communication; its what my mom did for work and I really enjoyed thinking critically about my media consumption. How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Does Greek life play a significant role in the campus social life? Hope: I was a pretty shy person when I was 18, and I appreciated that my school had opportunities for me to get out and meet people in safe, supported environments. I worked at the front desk of my dorm and made friends that way. Then, I was a resident advisor and got to meet even more people through that position. Greek life is there, but only as big as you want it to be. I knew people who were Greek and non-Greek and we all seemed to get along pretty well. How helpful is the Career Centerand other student support services? Hope: There are Career Centers for almost any subset and career. It made it easy to get connected to jobs and careers. There were dozens of job fairs every year that recruited from companies all over the country and internationally. Almost every week there were free resume workshops or reviews to give you the best opportunity to get hired. How are the various study areas such aslibraries, the student union, and dorm lounges? Hope: There were about 10 different libraries, one of which was open 24 hours a day. If the main library was crowded, there were other libraries on campus where you could go and study. Wifi was fast, outlets were abundant, and there were many comfortable chairs. Describe the surrounding town. Hope: Its definitely a college town. The main street has tons of food and concert venues, and the majority of them take the college card as currency. On most nights, you can follow the crowds to downtown to find something to do. We have a major hockey team, music, art, museums, and restaurants. Theres always something to do on or off campus. How big or small is the student body? Were you generally pleased or displeased with the typical class sizes? Hope: When I graduated, I did so with about 12,000 of my classmates. It was a huge graduating class. It made it easy to find someone to hang out with or someone you had something in common with. Describe one memorable experience with a professor and/or class. Perhaps one you loved the most or one youregretthe most. Hope: My favorite class was called love and literature. Our professor asked us to do presentations on non-Western romantic tradition. It was so nice to learn about different holidays and cultures. I learned so much! Check out Hopes tutoring profile. What is Pattern Making
What is Pattern Making Pattern Making: the First Step in Clothing ChaptersClothing Before PatternsPattern-Making ParticularsThe Tricky Science of SizingPattern-Making for Non-Clothing ItemsWe are so lucky! We take it for granted that our trousers have two legs of equal width and length and that our shirts button up evenly. We donât even need to constantly tug one sleeve down to match the other! You might think that this is such an obvious thing to remark upon but it wasnât so long ago that merely draping oneself in a piece of cloth and cinching a belt to hold it closed was standard attire. In some parts of the world, it still is: think of Indiaâs flowing saris, for instance, or the traditional kimono of Japan, held together by its obi. There is a science to making clothes to fit the body; clothes that are âevenâ on both sides. It is called pattern-making.As you may have guessed, that statement only applies to roughly the last 150 years. Before that time, all sewing was bespoke; done by hand and made to order.Even that is not exactly true.Onl y the wealthy could afford tailor-made clothing; everyone else made do as best they could. As you might imagine, those results might not have been⦠even. What really revolutionised the clothing industry â" indeed, what turned clothing into an industry was the sewing machine. The first working sewing machine caused a riot. Angry tailors, fearing for their future income, burned down the shop of one sewing machine inventor and nearly killed him.Fortunately, weâve moved past those days; now we live in a time where we can buy all the clothes we want without having to endure multiple fittings at the dressmakersâ or tailorsâ, with a reasonable assurance that the clothes will be properly cut and sewn.Besides the sewing machine, what makes such extravagance possible? Sewing patterns!Today, your Superprof takes a look behind the actual making of clothes to see how they are measured and cut, how they are sized and why there really is no âone size fits wellâ in off-the-rack clothing. Find and take sewing courses on Superprof. Before the mid-19th Century, outside of the royal court, sewing was pretty much for practical purposes only.Nobody had the time to sit around, dreaming of dazzling garments, nor did they have the money to buy shimmering cloth with which to make said garments. To say nothing of the fact that the average person had no need of shimmering garments. The Industrial Revolution changed all of that.It didnât give people reasons to wear nice clothing but it made the possibility of clothing being more than just serviceable.Machines could now produce low-cost bolts of cloth from which many articles of clothing could be made and factories sprang up to mass-produce clothing. They were able to do so thanks to pattern-makers.Discover how you too can make your own clothes patterns... A dressmaking form is a way to get a look at how well the dress will drape Image by Lara Gonzalo from PixabayPattern-Making ParticularsMass-producing clothing for men in varying sizes was really not so difficult; measurements are pretty straightforward and nothing gets draped.Womenâs clothing, on the other hand, proves a far greater challenge. Besides the greater variety of styles in women's clothing, things get much more complicated because there is no hard-and-fast ratio of the bust-waist-hip measurement. That is why clothes-making was soon standardised through the use of patterns. These patterns are meant to accommodate body measurements of the average-sized person. To be more exact, two main pattern-making techniques were designed. The Flat PatternPattern drafting starts with a set of measurements.Letâs say you want to make a pattern from which all of your future clothing will be made from. You will need to take exact measurements of your:Neck, measuring at its basechest (bust) : wrap the measuring tape around your chest at nipple heightshoulder width: from shoulder to shoulder, across the yokesleeve length: measure both arms from shoulder to wristyou will also have to measure your biceps and wrist!Waist: measure the fullest part, if possiblehips: here also, you should target the fullest parthalf-length: from the base of your neck to the top of the hipsAnd so you would continue, measuring your inseam, outer seam, thigh girth and so on.Once you have all of these measurements, you would plot a sloper; a basic outline of your measurements. In fact, you may want an upper and lower sloper and, if you anticipate making skirts and dresses, you might make a narrow skirt sloper. Donât worry, you can always embellish it later! The point of having a sloper is that you have a basic outline from which to make patterns. You might think of your slope as a two-dimensional dressmaker dummy. You may also want to make it on something more resilient than paper; maybe paperboar d or even a thin sheet of Teflon.Once you have created this more durable slope, its name changes to âblockâ. You can make free sewing patterns from your own blocks Image by Maatkare from PixabayThe Draping MethodIf youâve ever undertaken any sewing projects that called for draping cloth over a dress form, then you are already familiar with this method of making clothing patterns. As its name implies, one simply drapes muslin over this form until the desired look is achieved, after which the design is transferred to paper to create a slope or the cloth itself becomes the pattern.Using such a form is especially effective if you want to learn how to make your own dress patterns because it gives you a three-dimensional look at how the dress will drape and flow. The Tricky Science of SizingIf you endeavour to make clothing for yourself or members of your family, you will encounter one obvious stumbling block: not everyone is the same size. Or shape, for that matter. How do clothiers use a slope or block to make clothing suitable for everyone? That is where sizing â" grading is the industry word for it, comes in.To make a graded shirt pattern, for instance, you would first trace your block onto pattern paper. Then, using the centre line, the measurement that reaches from the base of the neck to the top of the hips as a baseline, expand or shrink the straight seams as needed.Straight seams include the bottom line of the shirt and its sides. They are the best place to start grading because they run parallel and perpendicular to the centre line.Once you expand/contract the sides of the shirt, you must also modify the armhole. For that, you would take away from the side seam â" the lower part of the sleeve opening, rather than from the shoulder. You would surely need a French curve ruler to make sure the bow of the armhole keeps its proportion in relation to the shirt's grading. The neckline is another tricky measure to grade; here too you would have to rely on geometry to make your adjustments. It is important to know that slopes and blocks do not include any seam allowances so, as you adjust your pattern for size, do not forget to add an inch or two for this allowance.Grading a pattern is not complicated; you may get a better idea of how to do it by looking at a Butterick pattern⦠You can learn how to sew and make patterns by following a quilt pattern Image by engin akyurt from PixabayPattern-Making for Non-Clothing ItemsThe days when sewing was considered an essential skill are gone. Today, few practise home sewing and children do not learn to sew in schools anymore â" at least, not public schools.A recent poll indicates that rather than sew a button back on or mend a tear, most people would discard the item of clothing to buy a new summer dress and buying sewing supplies would never cross their minds.Still, there is room for hope, judging by the number of Vogue patterns being bought and the sewing tutorials being watched online. So maybe, instead of starting with an ambitious sewing project like a sundress or a gathered skirt, you could start by sewing something you wonât wear but may still display. You could start with bag patterns. Sewing a unique tote bag would give you a good idea on how to measure and cut, how to follow a pattern⦠and you may even le arn how to grade from a bag pattern.Once you know how to sew bags, you could move on to something larger. You might opt for a quilt pattern, for instance. A simple Internet search will turn up free patterns that you could download and execute â" probably not in time to make holiday gifts this year but certainly by next yearâ¦When you feel you are ready to start making clothing, you might start with doll clothes.True, the sizes are scaled down dramatically but, once you get the hang of sewing those tiny clothes, you can look forward to buying your first sewing pattern and make something for yourself. In all, learning how to make patterns for sewing is not difficult and, once you gain the skills necessary to do it, thereâll be no stopping you! Now, learn all about pattern-making for fashion designâ¦
